Almost ten years and over 50 issues later, and that guy is still running. And that wolf is still laughing. Digging up this cover from GHOSTLY TALES #94 [1972] in their later years, Charlton flipped it around and reduced the story title to fit the UPC code, and removed the original figure and narration from Mr. Dedd. Still a nice eye-catching cover.
In looking at these recent covers, I find myself looking at all the cover info along the top that was so prevent in the 70s and 80s. I find some of it interesting.
ReplyDeleteYou have both the Charlton Comics bullseye, and the Charlton Publication logo (like we need both?). The old CDC logo seems to have disappeared since they rolled out the 'Big C' logo in the late 60s, leaving behind just 'CDC'. And we have a circle next to the Bullseye with the comic's host. Most of the other info is clear: prices, date, issue number.
But what is the deal with the white star in the black circle that is between the host circle and the Bullseye??? Its on every single cover.
